Course Overview


What is Digital Electronics?
Digital Electronics aims at providing in-depth knowledge of various subjects of present day interest to students with a background in Electronics and Telecommunication background.

What is the difference between Digital Electronics and Digital Communication?
The Digital Electronics course delves into the concept of the states assignment problem and how it affects the structure and complexity of sequential machines, serial decomposition, parallel decomposition of the machines, synthesis of multiple machines and state identification experiments which are designed to identify the unknown initial state of the machine and fault detection experiments.

What will I study in the course?
Students will learn the concepts of Advanced Digital Communication, Modern Digital Signal Processing, Advanced Embedded Systems, Antenna Theory and Design, Digital Electronics, Error Control and Coding, Advanced Computer Architecture, and a course on Linear Algebra. Elective courses such as CMOS VLSI Design, Wireless & Mobile Networks, Advances in VSLI design, Real Time Operating Systems will be offered.

Besides in-classroom learning, what other opportunities do I have to learn?
Many skill development programmes and workshops are conducted to help students acquire additional skills demanded by industry. These training sessions combined with the coursework will prepare students for careers as Design Engineers, QA professionals, testers, coders, etc in Embedded Systems and Electronics companies.

Eligibility Criteria

Admission to M.Tech–Digital Electronics course shall be open to candidates who have passed the Bachelor’s Degree examinations with not less than 50% marks in the aggregate of all the semesters of the degree examinations (45% for SC/ST candidates belonging to Karnataka). The candidate shall have passed Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communication / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Instrumentation Technology / Electronics & Telecommunication / Telecommunication / Electrical & Electronics / Bio-Medical Engineering / Medical Electronics or equivalent.

In addition, the candidate must have also taken at least one of the following entrance exams: GATE: EC, EE, IT or PGCET.
