What We Do

We understand that each of you is unique, and have different aspirations and plans for your careers ahead. Whether you are interested in pursuiing further study, starting your own company or working in industry, we are here to help.

Campus Hiring
We work closely with our industry partners to understand their project requirements, needs and expectations for the campus hiring process, and then match eligible students with placement opportunities through on/off campus hiring, internships and projects.

Entrepreneurship
The Entrepreneurship Development Cell offers programs and seminars for those students who are interested in entrepreneurship. It also assists students with coaching and access to external partners and alumni.

Further Study
For students interested in continuing their education through Post Graduation, Doctoral and Research programmes,

  • We act as a liaison to help bring students in touch with faculty from the academic departments for guidance.
  • We connect students with research opportunities through the Research department
  • We help students get in touch with our alumni who are pursuing higher studies abroad, for guidance on application processes, information and admissions requirements
 

What resources are available?

Centres of Excellence
Students will have access to the on-campus Centres of Excellence (CoE) created through CMRIT’s industry partnerships and alliances. Through these centres, you will complete projects that allow you to work with the latest technologies. Our faculty are trained in these areas, and you will be able to leverage their expertise through project mentorship and guidance.

CMR Life Skills Institute
We have partnered with the CMR Life Skills Institute to offer a number of training programmes for development of soft skills such as communication and presentation skills, email and business etiquette, body language improvement, working in teams, and other aptitude enhancement methods. Students will benefit from interview preparedness workshops and seminars. These courses are integrated into the curriculum so that every student will be able to leverage this exposure.

 

Preparation for Placements

The Career Guidance & Placement Bureau conducts many activities and events throughout the year. These initiatives directly target the students and help them prepare and plan for career placements.

Below is a glimpse into some of those activities.

  • Soft skills training is conducted for all students from 1st semester onwards. This applies to both undergraduate and post graduate programs
  • Mini projects for undergraduate students that help them prepare for their final projects.
  • “PREPARE” program for pre-final year students across all streams in undergraduate programmes. This special initiative is valuable preparation for the placement process.

It includes:

  • Technical training from external and internal faculty to address skill gaps for corporate readiness
  • Orientation program for students delivered by our industry partners
  • Latest technology-specific training and certification programs
  • Soft skills training focused on interview preparedness, presentation and communication skills
  • Guest lecture series from industry experts from recruiting companies.
  • Talks by our alumni who represent the companies participating in the placement drives.
 

Placement Process

Each year, we invite our industry partners  and other reputed organizations to the college campus to participate in the placement process for both Undergraduate (6th Semester) and Postgraduate (3rd Semester) programmes. Each student receives placement guidelines and rules from the placements office and must adhere to the process.

  • Visiting companies on-campus/off-campus will interact with the eligible students directly during pre-placement talks (PPT). During these sessions, they will provide overviews of the job profiles, job descriptions, compensation, company’s expectations and other specific requirements.
  • Students will participate in the interview process specific to the visiting company (Example: Written test(s) / Group Discussion(s) / Presentations / Technical Interviews / Personal Interviews). Shortlisted students will be notified if they receive an offer.
  • Students should remain in constant touch with the placements office even after receiving an offer. Faculty placement co-ordinators and companies will ensure that post-offer criteria and requirements are adhered to.
 

What are the expectations of students?

Eligible students from various departments in both Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs, who are participating in the placements process, are expected to adhere to the placement rules and guidelines. Students will receive a hardcopy of these guidelines. The placement process commences before the start of the placement season.
