Overview

Objectives:

  • To build a sustainable partnership with engineering education institutions in India and abroad for mutual benefit to produce “industry ready” recruits.
  • To enhance the quality and quantity of the IT talent-pool to sustain the growth of the IT industry itself.
 
Establishment of Campus Connect:

Launched by Infosys in May 2004, CC is a unique academia-industry initiative to “architect the education experience”.

CMR Institute of Technology has been associated with Infosys Campus Connect Program, with effect from 2007.

Benefits to Faculties and Students:

  • Infosys conducts “train the trainer program” on various technologies including Foundation level, Advanced level and soft skills.
  • Infosys provides training to faculties so that they can equip students for placement drives.
 

Foundation Level Training:

This programme includes the following courses.

  • Operating System, Programming and Testing
  • Object Oriented Concepts
  • RDBMS
  • Problem Solving Techniques
 

Advanced Level Training:

This programme includes the following courses.

  • Hadoop – A Practitioner’s Approach

Students from CSE department had visited INFOSYS, Bangalore campus on 06th OCT 2016.

REPORT 1-OCT 2016

Agenda: Industrial Visit
Date: 06th October 2016
Venue: Infosys Limited (Infy), Electronic City, Bengaluru Campus
Time: 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM

Participant’s: 111 UG students of CSE dept, 3rd Year (5th Semester), assisted by 4 Teachers summing up to 157.

Summary

  • We reported to the venue by 9:00 AM as expected.
  • We were received by Mr. Vishnu Kumar who guided us to Building #12, Auditorium 04.
  • Mr. Anup Singh, In-charge for “Infosys Campus Connect Program” for the Bengaluru Region proceeded over the session 01.
 
Session 01: 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM by Mr. Anup Singh
  • Briefed about Infosys and its wide spread campuses all over the world.
  • Historical evolution of Infosys in 30+ Years which was started with a 250$ initial investment and initiated by Narayana Murthy and 6 others at a flat in Pune.
  • He motivated students to be in pace with industry oriented specific skills and hinted upon learning Python to be in pace with current trend.
  • Highlighted over the success mantra or strategy which is followed by Infy
    “Under Commit and Over Deliver”

  • He emphasized over the industry structure co-relating it to Horizontals (Units which does not generate revenue but support Verticals) and Verticals (Generate revenue with the support of Horizontals).
  • He emphasized over the products and type of projects which is under taken by Infy. He listed few of the them such as, Finacle, Airtel Money, and hinted over Portals used by banks to provide Internet banking. Even Income Tax return portal is developed by Infy for free. Revenue is generated per user using the portal for which government pays commission to the company.
  • Hinted over the future horizon of Infy to inculcate IT into agriculture. Current view is to improve the involvement of Telco’s (Mobile Communication) for farmers which makes access, transfer of funds easy in their ordinary handset.
  • Over all the session was very inspiring for students to prepare them for the upcoming placement. Ended the session with few inspiring words such as “Make it” to a company or you “Break Out” from the lot if not prepared well losing an opportunity. Hinted to work hard from now on and to dream big.

Session 02: Session on Python 3.0 programming By: Mrs. Sahana

Demonstrated how to program in Python and the applicability and the preferences of Python in different industrial applications.

We had a insight of the working environment of Infosys. We toured over beautiful Infy campus with lot of landscapes. Students enjoyed the tour and would have dream to get into the campus.

Over all it was pleasant and joyful experience for students and faculty members.

Session 02: Quiz over Databases hosted by Mr. Anup Singh

Students were divided in to 2 groups and questions which test the practicality of using databases was asked. Our students responded well for the session.

Session 03: Security Systems by Mr. Manish Kumar Mishra
  • Session was on security systems concentric over vulnerability and a case study on SQL Injection. Thanks to Mr. Manish who gave a practical scenario of using it. He showed us how simple it is to peep into someone’s system. He used “0′ or ‘1’ = ‘1” in a query and showed how an improperly designed site will behave.

Different kinds of vulnerability were discussed with valuable web portal information to explore or the interested lot working towards security systems. He emphasized on the scope and interpersonal growth if an individual takes up his career in Security Systems. He hinted that most of the organizations are working on vulnerable configurations.

  • Introduced to PCIDSS and few web portals which list the current set or state of Vulnerability.
  • Elaborated over vulnerabilities visualized in the past such as SSL PUDAL, HEARTLBLEED and others in the past attacks.
 

Emphasized over TLS., 0 Day vulnerability.

  • Showed us valuable resource and web portals to excel in the field of security such as OWASP.org, hackernews.com etc.
  • Described the difference between white hat (Authorized hackers) and Black hat hackers(Unauthorized hackers having selfish motive).
Infosys Campus Connect

Introduced to “permission backtrack” using SQL injunction. Hinted upon experiment on kalilinux for forensic security. He insisted students to practice to hack in virtualized environment such as VMWare. Web environment DBWA “Dam vulnerable web application” running in XAMPP was used for demonstration. Few more were Mutllidae, WebGoat were hinted to have a try.

  • One of the tool “Burp suite” was used to behave as man in the middle attack.
  • Overall the session was a eye opener for the people who had an interest in hacking or thinking out of the box.
 

Anup Singh concluded with vote of thanks and we had a lunchbreak.
